THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), through its Audit Oversight Board (AOB), has prohibited Ahmad Aljafree bin Hj Mohd Razalli from auditing public interest entities (PIEs) and schedule funds for a period of one year, effective from 30 April 2025.
Aljafree, a partner at the audit firm Al Jafree Salihin Kuzaimi PLT — registered with the AOB — has also been fined RM50,000 following failures in his role as engagement partner for a public listed company’s audits for the financial years ended 30 June 2020 and 30 June 2021.
According to the AOB, Aljafree did not comply with the relevant International Standards on Auditing (ISA), particularly in the areas of prior year adjustments, property, plant and equipment, opening balances and consolidation.
Aljafree appealed to the SC against the monetary penalty imposed by the AOB, but did not contest the prohibition order. The appeal was subsequently dismissed by the SC, which upheld the AOB’s decision. - August 18, 2025
