DIGITAL Nasional Bhd (DNB) has formally rejected a notice from Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) seeking to terminate their 5G Wholesale Access Agreement, affirming that the contract remains legally binding and enforceable.
In a statement, DNB emphasised that the access agreement with TM is valid until October 2032 and contains specific provisions governing early termination. The company said TM had not exercised its early termination rights in accordance with these contractual conditions.
“On this basis, DNB does not accept TM’s notice to terminate the Access Agreement. Meanwhile, the agreement remains valid, binding, and enforceable,” the statement read.
DNB added that it would take all necessary steps to protect its interests and uphold its rights under the agreement and the law.
The statement comes after TM announced last week that it had invoked its contractual rights to terminate the 5G wholesale access deal with DNB, as part of a move to enter a new multi-operator 5G Core Network agreement with U Mobile Sdn Bhd.
Despite the disagreement, DNB reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted service, stability, reliability, and the security of the national 5G network for stakeholders and end-users.
The contrasting positions between the two telecommunications giants raise the prospect of a contractual dispute over the future of TM’s 5G wholesale arrangements under Malaysia’s evolving dual-network 5G framework. - March 3, 2026
