LOCAL households can earn a RM100 reward by cutting unnecessary electricity use under a new Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) campaign aimed at encouraging more efficient energy consumption.
Under the Geng Bijak Tenaga campaign, 2,000 eligible domestic customers will share RM200,000 in incentives, with each successful participant receiving a RM100 Touch ’n Go Reload PIN.
To qualify, customers must maintain electricity consumption at 600 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or below for both October and November 2026.
They must also have an active TNB account for at least 12 months and record the highest percentage reduction in electricity consumption when their average usage during the two-month campaign is compared with the average for the preceding two months.
The campaign, supported by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), was launched today by Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad during his September engagement session with PETRA staff at Menara PETRA in Putrajaya today.
PETRA said the initiative was designed to help consumers better understand their electricity bills and household consumption patterns, while encouraging them to use electricity according to their needs and avoid unnecessary wastage.
The ministry said the campaign was particularly timely as Malaysia faced challenges from the global supply crisis, which had placed pressure on energy costs.
“Using energy wisely does not mean sacrificing comfort, but avoiding wastage and using electricity according to need,” PETRA said.
The campaign will also provide consumers with information and reminders on energy-saving habits to help them adopt more efficient practices in their daily lives.
PETRA said small changes in individual households could collectively contribute to more prudent use of the country’s energy resources while benefiting consumers.
Registration opens on Sept 10 for eligible domestic TNB customers.
TNB will monitor and verify participants’ electricity consumption during October and November before announcing the 2,000 successful recipients in December.
Details on the campaign’s eligibility requirements and registration process are available on the official Geng Bijak Tenaga website. - September 3, 2026
