Bursa remains weaker in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened lower this morning, bucking the regional trend as risk appetite in the market was curbed by renewed concerns over possible lockdowns in certain states and the uncertainties in the local political scene.

At 9.30am, there were 159 gainers, 731 losers and 304 counters traded unchanged on the Bursa Malaysia.

The FBM-KLCI was at 1,581.11 down 10.86 points. It opened 2.44 points weaker at 1,589.53, compared to yesterday’s close of 1,591.97.

The FBMACE, meanwhile, was at 10,531.62 down 33.66 points, and the FBMEmas was at 11,385.58, down 93.91 points. 

Turnover was at 1.100 billion shares valued at RM621.889 million. – Bernama, January 7, 2021
