KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia resumed the afternoon session lower, bucking the regional trend, weighed down by weak market sentiment.

 At 3.11pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 5.17 points to 1,597.78.

On the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers by 905 to 340, while 303 counters were unchanged, 536 untraded, and 13 others suspended.

Volume stood at 5.73 billion units worth RM3.61 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank lost 18 sen to RM8.10, Public Bank trimmed four sen to RM20.36, Tenaga fell 20 sen to RM10.32, and IHH Healthcare discounted 12 sen to RM5.58.

Petronas Chemicals rose 29 sen to RM7.34 and Top Glove increased 28 sen to RM6.08.

Of the actives, AT Systematization and GPA added one sen each to 19 sen and 11.5 sen respectively, Key Alliance was flat at five sen, while Vortex inched down half-a-sen to 5.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 65.05 points lower at 11,446.42, the FBMT 100 Index decreased 57.13 points to 11,204.11, the FBM 70 declined 155.17 points to 14,401.26, the FBM ACE erased 20.42 points to 10,520.55, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slid 16.17 points to 12,911.71.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index decreased 153.67 points to 14,814.32, the Plantation Index fell 11.37 points to 7,408.67, while the Industrial Products and Services Index added 1.33 points to 173.14.
