KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corp (MPRC), an industry development agency under the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, has appointed oil and gas industry veteran Datuk Ahmad Suhaili Idrus as chairman effective March 1.

President and chief executive Mohd Yazid Ja’afar, in a statement today, said the appointment is part of MPRC’s strategy to provide additional leadership experience to support its growth aspirations.

“Suhaili is a highly respected industry veteran, and his proven credentials will be a valuable addition to the board.”

MPRC said Suhaili has spent nearly three decades in the downstream and midstream oil and gas industry, mainly with Shell.

He has also served in various senior leadership roles at the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, Performance Management and Delivery Unit, AECOM Malaysia and Felda.

He studied mechanical engineering at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and obtained a master’s in business administration from Universiti Malaya.

He holds a PhD in business administration from Asia e University.

MPRC said Suhaili is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and Institution of Mechanical Engineering, and a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia. – Bernama, March 5, 2021
