KUALA LUMPUR – The Subang airport (SZB) parking space is set to get an upgrade by the third quarter of the year, which will see it having another 200 bays, taking the total to 1,000, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today.
The upgrade work includes improving lighting with heavy-duty spotlights and enhancing signage for easy navigation.
“More importantly, we will install state-of-the-art CCTVs to ensure users’ continued safety. The total car park space is 34,484 sq m for the 1,000 bays,” said MAHB group chief executive Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh in a statement.
“In the SZB regeneration plan, we envision optimum growth potential for commercial aviation and aerospace segments at the hub, in line with national plans and ambitions.
“We are boosting the total user experience at SZB from all angles. Refurbishing the car park is one of the initiatives we have undertaken to provide important infrastructure for a seamless experience.”
The two car park areas that will be refurbished are located at the terminal and MRO & Helicopter Centre, serving both the public and airport staff.
With SZB positioning itself as the region’s preferred one-stop aerospace hub, MAHB is anticipating tenants’ growth and development under the five-year regeneration plan.
The plan encompasses the provision of end-to-end services to support operators with complete infrastructure, including developing leasable facilities, namely hangars, aircraft component repair workshops, and aero-structure manufacturing facilities for third-party operators. – Bernama, May 14, 2021
