KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (Mavcap) has appointed Tunku Alizakri Alias as its new chairman, effective today.

“We are pleased to welcome Tunku Alizakri Alias as our new chairman.

“Given his significant experience, wide breadth of expertise and proven track record we are confident that Mavcap will continue to move forward under his leadership,” it said in a statement today.

Tunku Alizakri has had an illustrious career with over 20 years of senior management and board-level experience in sectors such as fund management, central banking, social security, healthcare, media and telecommunications, and oil and gas, among others.

He served as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer from 2018 to February 2021.

He was the deputy chief executive officer (strategy) when he joined the retirement fund in 2014.   

Under his leadership, the EPF also became the first Asian pension fund to establish environmental, social and governance targets for its portfolio to be achieved by 2030.

Mavcap is the country’s largest venture capital company and is wholly-​owned by the Finance Ministry. – Bernama, July 2, 2021
