ISTANBUL – Andy Jassy yesterday officially took over from Jeff Bezos as Amazon CEO, reported the Anadolu agency.

The United States e-commerce giant and Bezos announced the change in leadership in February. Yesterday was the company’s 27th anniversary.

Bezos previously said he wants more time to focus on his personal ventures, such as climate change organisation Bezos Earth Fund and aerospace company Blue Origin.

He is the world’s richest person, boasting a fortune of almost US$202 billion (RM839.7 billion), according to business magazine Forbes.

Jassy, who joined Amazon in 1997, founded and led Amazon Web Services from its inception and served as its chief executive from April 2016 until this month.

He has a master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School. – Bernama, July 6, 2021
