KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia posted modest gains in early trade today as a little profit-taking kicked in after two days of uptrend.
At 9.11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.76 of-a-point to 1,523.19 from yesterday’s close of 1,522.43.
The market bellwether opened 1.78 points higher at 1,524.21.
Market breadth remained positive, with gainers surpassing decliners at 265 versus 172, while 284 counters were unchanged, 1,498 untraded and six others suspended.
Turnover stood at 367.22 million shares worth RM174.50 million.
Meanwhile, the ringgit extended yesterday’s gains against the US dollar this morning, opening higher amid a weaker greenback and better local sentiment.
At 9am, the local note stood at 4.2210/2240 versus the greenback compared with yesterday’s close of 4.2245/2275. – Bernama, August 24, 2021
