KUALA LUMPUR – Trading on Bursa Malaysia remained tight at mid-morning as investors await this afternoon's Budget 2021 vote.
At 11am, the benchmark index FBM KLCI was 0.81 of a point higher at 1,598.39 compared with yesterday's close of 1,597.58.
The market opened 0.11 of a point higher at 1,597.69 before slipping into the red a minute later and subsequently returned to positive territory thereafter.
Gainers and losers were neck and neck at 455 to 444, while 919 counters were unchanged, 360 untraded and 33 others suspended.
Total volume stood at 2.85 billion units worth RM1.36 million.
All eyes are on the budget voting in Parliament which is expected to be a close run affair.
On Bursa Malaysia, heavyweights Public Bank shed six sen to RM18.86, Press Metal was flat at RM6.40, while Top Glove staged a rebound as it rose 19 sen to RM6.84 and Telekom Malaysia added 11 sen to RM4.95.
Among the actives, Vivocom shed 11.5 sen to 74 sen, AT Systematization added one sen to 18 sen and Fintec shed half-a-sen to nine sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 23.88 points higher at 11,464.31, the FBMT 100 Index inched up 23.10 points to 11,252.96, the FBM Emas Shariah Index jumped 63.62 points to 13,157.48, and the FBM 70 surged 98.32 points to 14,634.28.
The FBM ACE climbed 41.33 points to 10,620.80, the Industrial Products and Services Index shed 0.09 of-a-point to 158.70, the Plantation Index dipped 8.59 points to 7,304.94, and the Financial Services Index slipped 60.05 points to 14,167.36. – Bernama, November 26, 2020
