SHAH ALAM – Two major annual events in Selangor, the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2022 and the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022, have each recorded impressively more than RM1 billion in potential transaction values.
Selangor Standing Committee on Investment, Trade, Industry and Small and Medium Industries chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim said SIBS and SAS were two of many activities organised this year by Invest Selangor to assist the revival of the economic activities that were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said SAS 2022, held from September 8 to 10 at SkyPark RAC Subang, recorded a total of RM1.174 billion potential transaction value compared to RM100 million last year and attracted 10,563 people, surpassing the 8,000 visitors target.
“The event assembled 62 exhibitors from five countries representing the world’s best aerospace and aviation industries and saw 14 memoranda of understanding signed during the three-day event,” he said at a media conference here today.
Meanwhile, he said SIBS 2022 recorded RM1.45 billion potential negotiated sales compared to RM217.6 million last year, thanks to the post-Covid-19 reopening of international borders which allow more participants to physically attend the event.
Teng said the business summit which took place from October 6 until October 9 has successfully assembled a total of 906 exhibition booths from at least 31 countries, exceeding the earlier target of 850.
He said the four-day event also surpassed the initial 30,000-visitor target with a turnout of 44,342, 75% of which were trade delegates comprising business owners, importers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and hypermarket purchasing departments.
“A total of 380 buyers from 19 countries including Malaysia registered and participated in business matching sessions held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. All in all, a total of 60 countries participated in SIBS 2022,” he added.
Teng said due to its success, SIBS is returning next year from October 19 until October 22 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. – Bernama, December 6, 2022
