KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning, weighed down by selling in selected heavyweight industrial products and services counters, led by Petronas Chemicals and Press Metal.
The two counters dragged the composite index down by a combined 4.05 points.
At 11.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) narrowed by 1.91 points to 1,472.68 from Friday’s close of 1,474.59.
The key index opened 0.13 points better at 1,474.72.
On the broader market, decliners surpassed advancers 492 to 264, while 354 counters were unchanged, 1,065 untraded and nine others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.68 billion units worth RM654.17 million.
Among the heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals trimmed 16 sen to RM8.09, Press Metal Aluminium shed 14 sen to RM5.08, and both Maybank and Public Bank were flat at RM8.75 and RM4.20, respectively, while CIMB rose 7.0 sen to RM5.44.
As for the active counters, MYEG was flat at 61 sen, IRIS lost 1.5 sen to 12 sen, Zen Tech slid half a sen to 3.0 sen, while Sapura Energy added 1.0 sen to 5.5 sen and Pesona Metro gained 2.0 sen to 30 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index slipped 18.31 points to 10,740.04, the FBMT 100 Index trimmed 13.72 points to 10,392.01, the FBM Emas Shariah Index went down 46.11 points to 11,000.30, the FBM 70 Index decreased 18.79 points to 13,551.19, and the FBM ACE Index shaved 60.75 points to 5,683.25.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 2.58 points to 187.57, the Energy Index weakened 6.12 points to 890.25 and the Plantation Index was 33.33 points lower at 6,853.32, while the Financial Services Index bagged 51.35 points to 16,164.72. – Bernama, February 13, 2023
