KUALA LUMPUR – The Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM) conferred Public Islamic Bank Bhd with the IBFIM League of Excellence Award (ILEAD) at its fourth certification conferment ceremony recently.
IBFIM said in a statement that the ILEAD award recognises Islamic financial institutions that demonstrate a strong commitment to developing Islamic finance talent.
It said that several international and local institutions, namely the Asian Development Bank of the Philippines, the Central Bank of Seychelles, the Financial Planning Standards Board Indonesia, and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, also received the IBFIM Outstanding Industry Collaboration Award for their outstanding collaboration with the institute in developing Islamic finance talent and skilled professionals.
The event also honoured Tan Sri Mohd Daud Bakar, who received the Islamic Finance Premier Leadership Award (IFPLA) for his achievement in the development of Islamic finance both locally and globally, it said.
The institute said that IFPLA was previously conferred to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed.
During the ceremony, IBFIM also conferred 745 individuals with certificates from its nine certification programmes, including Professional Shariah Auditor, Certified Shariah in Islamic Finance, Certified Qualification in Islamic Finance, and Premier Certificate in Islamic Wealth Management.
“As an Islamic finance talent development institution, for over 25 years, we have certified more than 12,000 individuals during that period.
“We wish to continue being an enabler in supporting the industry in achieving its full potential through skills and technical certifications,” said its chairman Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican. – Bernama, February 27, 2023
