KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened higher, in line with Wall Street’s positive performance overnight. 

At 9.09am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI gained 2.76 points to 1,427.37 from yesterday’s close of 1,424.61.

The main index opened 0.18 of-a-point higher at 1,424.79.

Market breadth was positive as gainers beat decliners at 201 to 87, while 214 counters were unchanged, 1,774 untraded and 73 others suspended.

Meanwhile, the ringgit opened higher against the weakening greenback ahead of the release of the United States core personal consumption expenditure inflation data later today, said an analyst. 

At 9am, the local note strengthened to 4.4120/4170 versus the US dollar compared with yesterday’s closing rate of 4.4185/4225. – Bernama, March 31, 2023
