YOU want to take a snack before we start?” he jokingly asked, as he showed me the large opened packet of vegetable snacks he had on screen just before we started our virtual interview session.

Well, I didn’t expect any less from such a star considering the colour he chose to represent his personality.

After all, it takes a very secure man to wear pink, what more to embrace the colour and make it part of your stage name.

Meet Pink Sweat$, pop music’s latest American singing sensation. Christened David Bowden, the Philadelphia born star is currently famous for his hit ‘At My Worst’.

Preferring to be called Pink, his hit song topped the Malaysian digital streaming charts and is still riding high on the international radio airwaves.

Releasing his full album ‘Pink Planet’ today, the crooner spared some time with The Vibes for an exclusive video interview and shared with us his thoughts on his sudden rise to stardom and his dream destination.

“I never ever expected that someday my song will be played in another part of the world, like Malaysia. I mean when I was a kid all I ever wanted to do was play the drums and I never had huge dreams of becoming a star.

“Where I come from people never really make it like that, but as I was growing up, I learned how to write songs and worked hard to get to where I am. I mean, it is just crazy when you think about it,” he said about his unbelievable success story.

“When you were a kid you always tell yourself things will get better, but when you become an adult, you become slightly pessimistic and refuse to believe that really good things can happen to you. But now that I am here, I feel like a kid again and tell myself anything is possible. I mean I am my own superhero,” he added.

According to Pink, if he did not choose this musical path, he may have started his own non-profit charity and helped the needy.

“I already am involved in some charity projects where I donated cash and other items but I would like to have my own organisation someday so that I can actually see where the help is channelled,” he exclaimed.

While currently staying safe in the US, he hopes to visit Malaysia once the pandemic is gone.

“I am coming to Malaysia as soon as I can once all this is over. I am so done with the US,” he joked.

“But my dream destination would have to be Dubai. I have always dreamed of flying first class to Dubai and stay in one of the nice hotels in those tall buildings. It is a life-long dream ever since my childhood,” Pink said.

When asked about his expectations for the coming ‘Pink Planet’ album, he had no issues about being brutally honest.

“I just want people to listen to it and say this is music. I want people to appreciate the love songs and I believe they should start singing about love again because right now in the states we don’t hear much love songs.

“Every song you hear is about drugs and beating people up. That is not love. So, I want to make love popular again. Like how it is in Malaysia I heard,” he answered with a smile as we ended the interview.
