POPULAR Netflix series Bridgerton is no stranger when it comes to burning romps, but instead of the smouldering romance scenes the show is famous for – this time it’s the show’s physical set that is too hot to handle.

UK media reported that flames could be seen rising over the Wrotham Park Estate where the historic mansion used for the production is located on Wednesday, earlier this week.

Fans would recognise it as a backdrop to some of the show's most memorable scenes, including the infamous Pall Mall lawn game and the death of the family's patriarch, Edmund (spoiler alert).

More than 10 fire crews from the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue and the London Fire Brigade were rushed to contain the blaze. No casualties were reported.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service group commander Keith Harland said in a statement: “The emergency respond crews worked very hard to successfully contain the fire to prevent the from spreading to the main building, which was our main concern.”

It is noted that a single storey brick building used as the property’s stable was engulfed by fire, with smoke then clouding the country home nearby. The star-studded stately home and other properties near the stables remained intact.

The incident comes just a week after Netflix teased audiences that the filming of season three of its original series was underway. – The Vibes, July 30, 2022
