GET out your hats and crack that whip: ‘Indiana Jones’ could soon be arriving on your TV screens. After its multiple forays into the ‘Star Wars’ universe, Disney+ may develop a series on cinema's most famous archeologist.
While the project has not yet been made official, according to information from entertainment media Variety, Disney+ is "actively" working on the development of a series on Indiana Jones.
While discussions are already underway, statements made by some sources to the publication indicate that Disney is still looking for writers.
At this point, there has been no mention of potential plotlines.
It is therefore unknown whether the series will work as a prequel or a spin-off or if it will be linked to the fifth entry in the franchise, scheduled to hit movie theatres on June 30, 2023, in the same vein that Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ and ‘She-Hulk’ were linked with the Marvel cinematic universe.
There is also the question of who will take the role of the legendary Indiana Jones since Harrison Ford has already declared that he no longer wants to play the adventurer after the fifth film.
The American actor played the famous character in four films, directed by Steven Spielberg, from 1981 to 2008.
Of course devoted fans of the franchise will know that this series wouldn't be the first to delve into the Indian Jones universe.
‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ was broadcast over two seasons on US TV network ABC, between 1992 and 1993, while four special episodes (TV movies) were made between 1994 and 1996.
Harrison Ford made a cameo in one of the episodes, giving some hope to the fans about the future project of the series.
