Darlings Honey is purveyor of premium stingless bee honey harvested from Trigona Itama stingless bees – found in less than 10 countries worldwide, including Malaysia. Stingless bee honey is a nutritional powerhouse with a host of medicinal properties as well as having anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant benefits.

NaturoSqin makes luxuriously handcrafted bath and body care products that use premium plant-derived ingredients that are skin-safe and free from parabens, sulphates and phthalates. Their best-selling luxury bath bombs help you relax and rejuvenate whilst nourishing and moisturising your dehydrated skin.

This Christmas, homegrown brands Darlings Honey and NaturoSqin are offering two unique gift sets for this magical season which will let you experience the magic from outside and from within.

The Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000  Shazmin Shamsuddin

This has been on my wish list for several months after my last steam iron puffed its last hot breath – The Philips Handheld Steamer STH1000 is a compact designed handheld steamer that makes it the perfect on-the-go solution to steaming your clothes anytime, anywhere – no ironing board needed. Perfect for travellers who want to step out looking sharp, it’s also convenient for those who make last minute outfit changes and find rumpled clothing at the back of the wardrobe that needs refreshing!

Featuring an 85ml detachable water tank, the safe-on-all-ironable-fabric steamer will generate up to 18g/min of continuous steam which relaxes the fibres of your garments and removes wrinkles. Whenever needed, the STH1000 needs just 35 seconds to go from plug-in to steaming.

Whilst it doesn’t produce the sharp creases of a traditional table iron for your more tailored or structured outfits, it does the job so you do not look like a crumpled, dishevelled mess leaving the house. Besides de-wrinkling, the 1000 Series also refreshes clothes (and soft furnishings, curtains, toys) and removes odours by killing up to 99.9% of bacteria*. Currently retailing at RM 128 on Lazada - a win!

Mi Electric Toothbrush T500 + Mi Electric Water Floss  Kalash Kumar

Investing in an electric toothbrush and an electric water flosser was the best decision in self-care that I made over the last year. I have tried using both in the past, but never had the discipline to fully adapt to it as the motions vary slightly and require patience in learning to use them the right way. After some convincing by my dentist, I opted for the Mi Electric Toothbrush T500 and Water Flosser.

Retailing around the RM100-150 price range each, it is among the more budget-friendly electric dental kits on the market, suitable for first-time users not entirely convinced of the technology. Studies vary on whether an electric toothbrush and flosser can offer superior dental hygiene, but speaking as a reformed user, my dental care has significantly improved since making the leap.

The T500 has a satisfying ergonomic handle that is easy to use, portable to pack and runs close to two weeks on a single charge. The Mijia Water Flosser, while not as portable, has a large storage bank that does not require you to refill every 10 seconds. The different modes, intensities and heads allow access to the back molars with ease. It is the perfect gift for your parents or friends that does not break your bank.

Let's get loud.

The modern world is a noisy and busy place. What better way to drown out all that noise with her own – nothing like fighting fire with fire.

After about a month or so of using the second generation AirPods Pro, I came to the realisation that it might just be the best gadget Apple makes. While an Apple Watch is a neat thing to have for active users, and an iPad is a good media consumption and nifty productivity tool, they are not exactly essential in the way the earbuds can be.

For those who commute and need to block out the noise, or need to focus in the office or other workplaces, the noise cancellation feature is incredibly useful. And though I'm no audiophile, music and other audio like podcasts come in loud and clear. They sound good, to be technical about it. They are also great for taking phone calls, with reception clear and the person on the other end being able to tell what you're saying.

Of course, at RM1,099 this is not a device for those on a budget. But hey, it's the end of the year and if's there's a time to treat yourself, what better time than now. – The Vibes, December 19, 2022
