INDIAN film playback singer Unni Menon will add on to the Indian music concert fever in Malaysia this month. He will be performing unplugged versions of his songs for the first time.
The four-hour concert themed “Unni Menon Rocks 1.0 Live Concert In Kuala Lumpur” will be held at Shantanand Auditorium, Temple of Fine Arts, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur at 7pm on March 19.
The 67-year-old singer has worked with many prominent music directors from India, including Oscar-winning Indian music composer AR Rahman. He will showcase some 20 of his notable songs catering to all age groups in Malaysia.
"The concert is unique as for the first time in Malaysia, a concert is being held mainly dedicated to Unni Menon’s songs.
"Apart from that, through this concert, the magic of late Indian playback singer Shahul Hameed's voice will be poignantly re-created by his brother Shamsuddin, with some of his hits under the composition of AR Rahman," said MNESS Productions director Dr Muniswaran Sivanathan.
MNESS Productions is the concert organiser.
Apart from Unni Menon, Vijay TV Super singers “Roshini” and “Reshma” together with other playback singers will join the performance accompanied by a live orchestra.
Unni Menon has recorded over 4,000 songs in many Indian languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. His notable songs are ‘Puthu Vellai Mazhai’ from the film Roja in 1992 and ‘Thimthanana Thimthanana’ from the film Rhythm in 2000.
Dr Muniswaran said the 618-seat capacity Shantanand Auditorium, the concert venue, will enable audiences to watch the concert in a closer range regardless of ticket zone. It will also help to decrease the time queueing to enter the hall.
The concert will be hosted by Rj Teresa Lazaro and Rj Gokul Kogul from Malaysian Radio Channels and the gates will open at 5 pm.
Visitors are advised to purchase tickets from myticket.asia or contact the organiser at 012-657 7102 for details.
A press conference on the concert attended by Unni Menon will be held at Signature Hotel, KL from 11am-1pm on March 18. – Bernama, March 11, 2023
