KUALA LUMPUR – Students in Standards 3, 4 and 5 will resume in-person classes on a rotation basis in the third term of the 2021/2022 school session.

The Education Ministry said students in Standards 1, 2 and 6 will resume physical classes without being on the rotation system.

This, the ministry said, applies to students in international and private schools, which are equivalent to government primary schools.

As for secondary schools, the ministry decided that students in Forms 1, 2 and 3 will continue their in-person classes via rotation, while Forms 4, 5 and 6 do not need to, provided that the schools involved have a fully vaccinated rate of 90%.

Those in transition and special needs classes, and students undergoing pre-university courses can return to in-person classes without the rotation system if the institutions have a 90% vaccination rate.

For schools with an enrollment of less than 300, their students can resume in-person classes without the rotation system.

The ministry also announced that boarding school students in Forms 1, 2 and 3 will continue with virtual classes.

Meanwhile, boarding school students in Forms 4, 5 and 6 can continue face-to-face learning without the rotation system, including those registered with pre-university courses.

The ministry added that students are allowed to wear appropriate and decent attire in the event that their uniforms are no longer suitable.

Parents who refuse to send their children back to school will not be put up for disciplinary action but have to submit letters to the schools for record-keeping.

The ministry said another announcement will be made on January 3 regarding schools affected by the floods or being used as temporary relief centres.

On December 24, it was announced that the resumption of school for next year would be postponed by one week.

The ministry announced that schools in Category A states (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) would reopen on January 9, while those in Category B on January 10 (Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya). – The Vibes, December 31, 2021
