PUTRAJAYA – Phase two of the Putrajaya MRT line, which is set to be launched tomorrow, will see a total of 3,445 parking bays made available at the station’s park-and-ride facilities.
Combined with the 12 stations launched in phase one, this brings the line’s total parking availability to 6,416 bays.
According to the line’s director of elevated construction, Noor Saidi Muda, these parking bays involved the use of land acquired by MRT Corp as well as partnerships between other bodies, such as the Putrajaya Corporation.
Speaking to reporters during a media preview, Noor Saidi said parking facilities will be increased over time to meet growing demand.
Of the line’s 36 total stations, 17 of these will have park-and-ride facilities, with the Sg Buloh and Putrajaya Sentral stations possessing the largest number of parking bays at 1,236 and 1,000 respectively.
A total of 49 trains will service the line during its operating hours from 6am to midnight. Each train can ferry a total of 1,200 passengers.
According to the service’s operator, Prasarana Bhd, the peak hour frequency of the trains on weekdays will be between four to six minutes, while off-peak hours will see trains arriving every seven to ten minutes.
Tomorrow’s launch will mark the line’s completion in its entirety, after phase one was launched in June 2022 and construction first began in 2016.
