JOHOR BARU – Siddartha Gautama, who gained enlightenment as the Buddha, is credited to have said: “What you are is what you have been and what you will be is what you do today.”
Today, worshippers made their way to the Jayanti Buddhist Temple in Pudu on this auspicious day, which marks the birth of Buddha himself.
The Vibes photographer AZIM RAHMAN was on the scene to capture moments as worshippers performed their religious rituals.
Wesak Day, also known as Buddha Jayanti or Buddha Purnima, is traditionally observed by worshippers spanning South Asia, South East Asia, as well as Tibet, Mongolia, and lands in the far east.
The term Wesak is believed to be derived from the Sanskrit term “vaiśākha”, which denotes the lunar month in which Buddha is believed to have been born. – The Vibes, May 4, 2023
