IT was a double celebration at the Little Sisters of the Poor - Home for the Aged and Infirm at Batu Lanchang, Penang when members from the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit jointly celebrated the Malaysia Day and birthday occasion of their residents.
Droves of church members came to mark Malaysia Day with singing and camaraderie with the aged residents of the home under the supervision of Mother Superior Moira Wong Mei Wan.
They were also served a sumptuous buffet luncheon.
Among those present were the cathedral resident priest Rev. Joachim Robert and the Rev Deacon Andrew Loh.
Among the residents celebrating their birthdays this month, is the octogenarian retired priest Father Robin Andrews, 87, and his twin brother Colin.
The majority of the attendees came with walking sticks and walkers as well as wheelchairs for the brief yet meaningful celebration of songs and dance performances by the church members.
Wong hoped that more organisations would step forward to help celebrate public holiday occasions, especially meaningful ones such as Malaysia Day with them.
