KUALA LUMPUR – Seeking to capture Malaysians’ positive moments in life amid these unprecedented times, Xiaomi Malaysia will be collaborating with the National Art Gallery of Malaysia through an online photography contest campaign, “Good Things During Bad Times”.

The year 2020 has challenged the norms of our daily life through the restriction of movement in the country, increase in negative emotions, economical impact, and even loss of loved ones.

Through the contest, participants are encouraged to share their images with Xiaomi Malaysia and the National Art Gallery to remind each other to look on the brighter side of life.

“In these challenging times, building positivity is pivotal to the emotional wellbeing within the society. Here at the National Art Gallery, we constantly strive to promote and nurture awareness, understanding and appreciation of art for all communities," said Amerrudin Ahmad, director general of the National Art Gallery.

"This can be achieved by engaging the public through various means, which is why we are happy to collaborate with the global technology leader, Xiaomi, on this public photography competition. We encourage such efforts in nurturing creativity amongst Malaysians,” he added.

Malaysians can take part by submitting entries on their Instagram profiles. The contest runs from now until December 31.

Entries will be judged by a panel of professional curators from the National Art Gallery.

Xiaomi, Malaysia and Singapore General Manager Nicolas Shi said: “We are honoured and excited to be partnering with a prestigious organisation such as The National Art Gallery of Malaysia. We believe that this collaboration will not just inspire creativity among Malaysians but also bring everyone closer through the storytelling of each photography entry.

"Photography has played such an important role in inspiring people these days, that is why we focus a lot on providing the best in camera technology through our most recent flagship smartphones, Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T.”

The “Good Things During Bad Times” campaign is open to any Malaysian aged 13 and above.

The top 25 entries will be announced on January 6, 2021 and will have their photographs exhibited on the National Art Gallery’s official website, as well as receive attractive prizes from Xiaomi, including the new Mi 10T Pro and Mi Portable Photo Printer.
