THE echoes of solidarity and humanitarian campaigns for Palestine have clearly never diminished in this country, although some believe otherwise.

Scheduled to be held in Kuala Terengganu, another large-scale campaign will take place later this month, with the target of involving a thousand four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles.

Known as Drive for Gaza 1.0, the event aims to express the people's solidarity with the suffering of the people of Gaza, who continue to face Zionist violence and tyranny.

Organised by the Disaster and Welfare Volunteers Association (DVAC) Malaysia, it also received the cooperation of Muslim Care Malaysia and the local 4WD community.

DVAC Malaysia Chairman, Khairul Badri Abdul Basit, said that all participants are scheduled to gather at the Jambatan Angkat compound at 8 am, before driving in a convoy for about 20 kilometres around Kuala Terengganu.

According to him, Drive For Gaza 1.0 emphasises universal human values and is not political in nature.

“This gathering is not just an event, but a call for humanity.

"Gaza does not need our sympathy, but demands our responsibility as brothers," he said.

He explained that the program also received the support of the Terengganu State Government, with the involvement of various state agencies and the presence of official guests.

"This gathering will be officiated by the Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, as a sign of support for the humanitarian efforts and solidarity of the people of Terengganu with Gaza.

"Among the contents of the program include a visual display of the real situation in Gaza via LED Screen, a Palestine forum with Ustaz Azhar Idrus, a Global Sumud Flotilla forum and food stalls," he said.

He said that the gathering, which used the official tagline "From the Archipelago We Start, In Gaza We Unite", marked the beginning of the Drive For Gaza Global Mission.

"The global mission is an ongoing humanitarian initiative that aims to unite NGOs and communities at the national and international levels.

"The mission also brings together humanitarian aid transparently through trusted channels," he said. - January 25, 2026
