SARAWAK'S regional air connectivity will receive a boost with AirBorneo launching direct flights between Kuching and Jakarta from Nov 13, with one-way fares starting at RM399.
The three-times-weekly service to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will operate on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, providing a direct link between Sarawak and Indonesia's commercial capital.
AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Aminuddin said the route would facilitate business travel, investment activities and official visits, while improving access for Indonesian patients and families seeking specialist medical care in Sarawak.
He said the connection would also support tourism in both directions, giving Indonesians easier access to Borneo's rainforests, cultural attractions and festivals, while offering Sarawak travellers a direct link to Jakarta.
The airline is offering all-in one-way fares from RM399 for Economy Class and RM888 for Business Class.
Flight MY 396 will depart Kuching at 3.10pm, while the return service, MY 397, will leave Jakarta at 4.55pm local time.
The launch forms part of AirBorneo's wider regional network expansion under its Northern Winter 2026/27 schedule, which runs from Oct 25 to March 27 next year.
The airline has also been operating its Kuching-Singapore service four times weekly since Oct 23, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, to support the expansion of its international network.
Flight MY 0385 departs Kuching at 7.35pm, while the return flight, MY 0386, leaves Changi Airport at 10pm.
AirBorneo said passengers affected by changes to Singapore flight schedules had been contacted directly and offered rebooking options.
Its twice-daily Kuching-Kuala Lumpur service will continue as scheduled, with afternoon flight MY 5004 departing Kuala Lumpur at 3.40pm.
The airline said tickets were available exclusively through its verified direct channels to ensure fare transparency, prevent unauthorised third-party markups and provide dedicated customer support.
Established in January 2026 following the transition from MASWings, AirBorneo has expanded from rural air services into jet operations, with Kuching-Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta forming part of its growing network. - October 31, 2026
