THE joy of a family over receiving their brand new Proton X50 was short lived as the vehicle was engulfed in floodwaters just an hour later.

A Facebook post by user Azharul Azri said his brother had delivered the car to a Puchong customer only to learn later the area was hit by a flash flood on Saturday evening.

“Luckily, my brother had asked the customer to include the special perils insurance coverage.

“We as agents request customers to purchase this extra coverage not for profit... Our profit is only RM10 at the most.

“We do it for our peace of mind, knowing the customer is always covered. In cases like this, it is a relief to have such coverage,” he said.

He said even RM10,000 was not enough to restore a car damaged by a flood.

Malaysians sympathised with the family, while agreeing special coverage against floods and natural disasters was a must. – The Vibes, December 18, 2023.
