HOUSING and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s mother received threatening notes in front of her house in Ayer Tawar, Manjung warning her not to “challenge Islam”.
District police chief Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said they received a report from Nga's 76-year-old mother about the incident at 10.15 am.
“She said that she saw many papers with the writing when she left the house at 7.30 am and believed that the words in the letters have bad intentions,” he said in a statement.
He said efforts to track down the suspect are currently underway and the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation through anonymous communication.
"The cause of the incident is not yet known," Nordin said, urging the public not to make any speculations that would affect the investigations.
He also urged those with any information to contact the investigating officer, Fariq Nazmi Mohd Mustafa, at 013-3317099.
In a statement put up by the state DAP committee on its Facebook page, it said the party condemned the actions of the irresponsible party.
"It violates the law, besides contradicting the values of a civilised society.
"We leave it to the discretion of the police to investigate and deal with the case," it said. - The Vibes, March 7, 2024
