THREE former Sabah chief ministers were among the policians present at the Kota Kinabalu court complex to give their moral support to the Sabah Law Society (SLS).
Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, and Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee were spotted at the court complex where the federal government is hoping to set aside a High Court decision on SLS' bid to review Sabah's 40% revenue entitlement.
In November 2022, the Kota Kinabalu High Court granted SLS leave to carry out the review. SLS seeks to compel the federal government to return to Sabah 40% of the revenue derived from the state.
The federal attorney-general is challenging the decision.
Other notable figures at the complex were former deputy chief minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, former Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin, and former Sabah agriculture minister Datuk Junz Wong.
More than a hundred police officers were deployed to beef up security at the court complex early this morning.
Politicians from opposing sides in Warisan, Sabah Progressive Party, Upko, Liberal Demokratik Party, Parti Bersatu Sabah, and United Sabah National Organisation also showed up along with state and indigenous rights groups. – May 16, 2024
