THE Sabah government will help the nomadic community of Bajau Laut in Semporna, whose homes was demolished.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the demolition was carried out because of security and should not be politicised.

“We are now thinking about what’s best for them. But what was done was a matter of security and sovereignty.

“Do not politicise the issue. We know how to handle this matter,” he said Kota Kinabalu today.

Sabah authorities have denied setting fire to the homes of the Bajau Laut Semporna after a video of the blaze went viral.

They say the residents torched their own houses during the demolition exercise. – June 12, 2024.
