SITI Nurhaliza has come under pressure from an anti-Israel group as she is scheduled to perform in a concert organised by a known supporter of Israel.

Boycott, Divest, Sanction Malaysia said it was "very disappointing" that Siti Nurhaliza, a multi-award-winning singer, would participate in the “Hitman Returns – David Foster and Friends” concert in Jakarta tonight.

The group said Foster, a world-renowned music composer, is a staunch supporter of Israel who have been raising funds for the Israeli military.

"Given the situation today in which more than 36,000 Palestinians have been brutally murdered by the Zionist army since October 7 last year and while the massacre is continuing in Gaza and the West Bank, Siti Nurhaliza's decision to participate in a show organised by Foster is very disappointing," it said in a statement..

The group urged celebrities to be more sensitive to the plight of the Palestinians.

"The least they can do is to boycott Israel's Zionist regime and any organisation or individual connected to the atrocity that is happening in Palestine," the group added.

A poster on the singer's Instagram page said Siti Nurhaliza will perform tonight at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Jakarta.

Other artistes in the line-up are Brian McKnight, Jessie J, and Indonesian pop and R&B singer Afgan. – June 15, 2024.
