DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof took a trip down memory lane yesterday when he visited his former primary school principal after many years.

“So happy and moved when after a long time, I finally had the chance to meet my former primary school headmistress again,” he wrote on Facebook.

He said the meeting with Sister Ignatia Soon lasted for about 30 minutes.

She was his former principal at SK St Mary, Sibu, from 1969 to 1974 (Grade 1 to Grade 6).

“It was very meaningful to me after several times trying to arrange the meeting,” he said.

He said after he managed to contact her, he met Sister Ignatia, who is already 84 years old, at the Convent of Mary Immaculate Padungan, near Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Kuching.

Sister Ignatia was the headmistress of SK St Mary from 1968 to 1995 before retiring and working at the church in Kuching.

Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, was accompanied by his wife, Ruziah Tahir.

“I really appreciate the services of all my former head teachers and former teachers.

“Thank you for all the guidance and knowledge you have given me,” he said. – August 5, 2024
