THE PAS muktamar unanimously approved seven amendments to the party constitution, including strict provisions on anti-party hopping, Bernama reports.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said a member who joins or supports a non-affiliated party, or takes actions contrary to the party line, will automatically lose his membership.

“This provision (Clause 15A of PAS’s constitution) also covers members who choose to be Independent candidates. This is crucial to ensure the discipline and loyalty of members holding positions in the legislature,” he said when presenting the motion at the conference in Temerloh.

Takiyuddin said the non-Muslim wing of the party will gain more rights and roles, including the right to vote and be elected to party positions, to allow them to contribute to the party’s growth.

The delegates also approved a motion to establish the PAS Assabiqun wing, aimed at allowing PAS members aged 60 and above to continue contributing their views and experiences.

Four other proposals that were approved were related to the management of PAS councils, the party administration, the board of trustees, and technical coordination in the party constitution. – September 15, 2024.
