NURUL Izzah Anwar today called on the young, passionate, change-makers to stand firm in solidarity with Palestine and make their mission one of activism, advocacy, and action.

"When we examine the impact of the Israeli occupation, it is tempting to focus on the visible destruction, the homes reduced to rubble, the lives shattered by bombs.

"But there is an invisible destruction that often goes unacknowledged, which is the trauma that Palestinian children carry with them throughout their lives," she said.

Speaking at the Global Youth & Peace Conference for Palestine in Kuala Lumpur today, she said that according to Unicef, an estimated 1.2 million children in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem live under severe psychological stress.

Many of these children have witnessed their homes destroyed, their loved ones killed or maimed, she said.

"We must counter this by spreading the truth about the realities on the ground, about the history of the occupation, and the humanity of the Palestinian people.

"Social media has given us unprecedented power to reach millions, and we must use this platform wisely," said the PKR vice president.

She also urged the youth to connect with like-minded organisations, both locally and globally, to ensure efforts are coordinated and impactful.

"By mapping out the needs of NGOs and matching them with on-the-ground action, we ensure that our activism translates into real, measurable outcomes.

"I want to remind us all that the struggle for Palestine is not just a political one, but a moral one. It is about the right of a people to live with dignity, freedom, and peace and about the future we want to create — a future where the children of Gaza grow up not under the shadow of drones and bombs but under the sun of freedom and hope," she said.

Izzah added that the youth mission must advocate for peace, justice, and unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.

"This is our responsibility, and this is our moral imperative," she added. - September 28, 2024
