The story of a woman having to pay RM6,277 for the cost of repairing her Perodua Viva went viral on social media.
A SOCIAL media post by a woman charged an alarming RM6,277 for repairs to her Perodua Viva has stirred a fierce debate about overcharging in the automotive repair industry.
The woman shared the payment receipt on her X account recently.
She was also initially asked to pay an RM1,500 deposit when she sent the car for repairs.
From the bill, it is seen that the workshop in question, among others, charged her RM600 for workmanship, RM3,200 for an original steering rack and RM700 for the original drive shaft (left and right).
She said she initially visited the workshop to fix a minor issue—her steering wheel was vibrating during daily use.
In her post, she also dismissed allegations that she had sent the vehicle for repair when it was already in bad condition.
"Don't accuse me of that. I have been servicing it one time and changed whatever needs to be. Also, I never drive more than 100 km/h.
“I swiped my card to pay for the repair costs at the workshop earlier, RM4,777, I was shaking,” she said.
She also said she did not want to ask her father for help as he had a minor stroke recently and did not want to trouble him.
Netizens have since expressed shock over the high cost of repairs to the Viva Elite, a car famed for its affordability and low maintenance costs. - October 12, 2024
