ADELINE Chang, who was recently fined RM7,000 after she pled guilty to posting a photograph of a minor online and captioning it with offensive remarks admitted that it was not right of her to drag an innocent child into a dispute.
According to reports in the Chinese media, she said she pleaded guilty because she knew it was her fault.
She claimed that she was not paid by a woman for a live broadcast, so she uploaded the photographs of the woman's child accompanied by some remarks.
“I regret my actions and I learned that there was no need for me to cause havoc just for some overtime payment," said Chang or her real name, Chang Pei Yi, 24.
She also revealed that it was her family who advised her to face the consequences of her actions and plead guilty to her offences.
“I regret and feel guilty that my family had to pay the fines for me," she was reported saying.
Chang was fined RM7,000 after she pled guilty before the Sepang Sessions Court to posting a photograph of a minor online and captioning it with offensive remarks.
She made the plea before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman after the charges were read to her in Mandarin.
She was charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, which is punishable by up to a year’s imprisonment, a maximum fine of RM50,000, or both upon conviction.
The court also ordered the accused to serve six months in prison if she failed to pay the fine. Adelina Chang paid the fine.
Chang, 24, who claims to be an 'influencer' arrived for her hearing accompanied by her sister, Alice, dressed in a white floral dress.
Earlier, before handing down the sentence, the judge described the actions of the accused as having damaged the dignity of the child and the victim's family. - October 26, 2024
