DATUK Seri Hajiji Noor has brushed off Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s comments on the BN-Pakatan Harapan (PH) collaboration in Sabah, stating that it is merely Zahid’s personal opinion.

Hajiji, who is Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, stressed the importance of unity within the GRS coalition, which includes PBS, and reiterated that any decisions regarding alliances for the upcoming state election would be made in the best interest of Sabah.

“We are in a strong and harmonious government under GRS and PH+, and our priority is the well-being of Sabahans,” Hajiji said, adding that while the coalition is open to discussions with other parties, including BN, the focus remains on ensuring stability and development for the state.

Commenting on Zahid’s recent statement that BN and PH at the federal level have agreed to cooperate with Sabah, Hajiji said, “That is his view, but what matters here is the strength and unity within GRS. We will work on what is best for Sabah.”

Hajiji said this after opening the 39th Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Convention in Penampang today.

Bernama reported on Saturday in Bagan Datuk that BN and PH have finalised their cooperation to face the upcoming Sabah state election, expected to take place next year.

Hajiji also revealed that GRS would hold discussions soon regarding the allocation of seats for the election.

“We will organise a meeting next month, God willing, to discuss the early negotiations on seat arrangements,” he said.

The Sabah chief minister further noted that cooperation between coalition members has been “strong enough, good enough, and harmonious,” underscoring the importance of continued unity to ensure the progress of Sabah.

Also present at the convention were PBS acting president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, the party honorary adviser Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and component party leaders from GRS.- October 29, 2024
