PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can continue to hold the prime minister’s post even after the 16th general election (GE16) despite the three-term limit for the PKR president’s post.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said Anwar still holds the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and unity government's leadership council chairman position, which allows him to be the prime minister after the 16th general election.

“PKR does have a three-term limit for the president’s post, but there’s no issue,” he said.

Anwar was first elected PKR president in 2018 and retained the post in the 2022 party polls.

Anwar had earlier also called for the PKR election to be expedited, saying that the election would create opportunities for collaboration between younger members and veteran leaders, allowing them to work together to manage the party more effectively. - November 9, 2024
