DATUK Ewon Benedick’s appointment as Sabah PH chairman is still in limbo, awaiting the presidential council’s green light.

Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the state PH state leadership has since submitted a report on the selection to the presidential council.

“The process was done according to procedure, but confirmation must come from the top,” Mustapha clarified, adding that the council was briefed on the state meeting’s proceedings in detail.

On a separate note, Mustapha said their recent meeting between Sabah PKR leaders and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was to discuss state matters, with no specific agenda.

“We were informed that the Chief Minister will be performing umrah, and it was just a general discussion,” Mustapha said.

The PH presidential council is expected to address Benedick’s appointment in its upcoming meeting.

Benedick was elected to the post on December 1, replacing Datuk Seri Christina Liew who lost by three votes. - January 5, 2025
