PARTI Bumi Kenyalang has called on the Sarawak government to explain what has happened to the RM49 billion in oil and gas money that the Federal Government had reportedly paid Sarawak.

Party president Voon Lee Shan said the matter involves a huge sum of money and the rakyat must be informed of what had happened to the RM49 billion.

"Earlier this month, the Prime Minister revealed in the Dewan Rakyat that the federal government had paid RM49 billion to Sarawak as of end December 2024 in cash as monetary payment related to the oil and gas industry in Sarawak.

"Why is it that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak leaders have not responded to the PM statement about this RM 49 bil? We the rakyat want transparency.

"Has the GPS government received this RM 49 bil? What then has the money been used for?" Voon asked in a press statement today.

Voon questioned if the RM49 billion was part of the oil royalty that Sarawak gets annually for oil and gas production.

The GPS government has an obligation to explain to the rakyat concerning this RM49 billion, he added.

The relevant state leaders must give a detailed account of how this figure was derived, and if indeed the money is with the GPS government, how has it been used. This must be revealed to the public, he added. – February 28, 2025
