FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters this morning for another round of questioning in a corruption and money laundering investigation.
After approximately four hours of questioning, Ismail Sabri left the MACC building at 12:30pm. As he drove away, he briefly rolled down his car window to wave at the media.
The former Prime Minister is expected to return to the MACC headquarters later today at 3:30 PM to continue his statement.
Claims circulating on various social media platforms of his detention today remain untrue, for now.
The vehicle carrying Ismail Sabri, who is also the Bera Member of Parliament, arrived at the MACC headquarters at 8:46am today.
On March 1, he was questioned for five hours at the MACC headquarters regarding hundreds of millions of ringgit spent on promotional and publicity expenditures during his administration from 2021 to 2022.
To date, the MACC has seized some RM170 million in cash, held in various international currencies, as well as 16kg of gold bullion worth around RM7 million. These seizures are part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering linked to Ismail Sabri, who has been named a suspect in the probe.
MACC has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over RM2 million as part of its investigation into Ismail Sabri. – March 14, 2025
