POLICE in Kuching have identified a woman in a Perodua Myvi who showed another motorist a lewd sign before going past him.

Padawan police chief Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said they received a report yesterday from an 18-year-old man about the incident.

"In the report at the Kota Sentosa station, he stated that on March 15 at 4.46pm, the woman drove alongside him and showed him a lewd sign.

"We have identified her and are investigating under Section 509 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement.

Section 509 prohibits actions that are intended to insult the modesty of any person, whether through words, sounds, gestures, or exhibition of objects.

If found guilty, the woman could face a jail term of up to five years or a fine.

According to a video of the incident which has since gone viral, the complainant claims that the woman cut into his lane without any indicator.

"I honked at her and she was not happy about it. When I was alongside her, she put down her window and began shouting while showing me a lewd sign," he said.

He said she then overtook him and began to constantly brake and flash her hazard lights. – March 19, 2025
