THE owner of two Rottweiler dogs that attacked and bit five people in an incident in Taman Desa Bidara, Kuala Ketil, has agreed to have the animals euthanised.

Baling District Officer Yazlan Sunardie Che Yahya confirmed the decision following a meeting between the dog owner and the relevant authorities.

 "The two dogs have been handed over to the Baling Veterinary Office to be euthanised according to the procedure," he said in a statement to Bernama.

In addition to the euthanasia, the Baling District Council issued two fines to the dog owner for keeping the animals without a licence.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, saw the two dogs escape from their cage and attack five individuals in the area. The victims, who were left injured after the attack, are currently receiving treatment at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani.

The case has drawn significant attention, and the authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. – April 2, 2025
