THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has yet to receive any official communication from the United States concerning the nomination of conservative political commentator and author Nick Adams as the new US Ambassador to Malaysia.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan confirmed the matter during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today, stating that any formal nomination would first be reviewed by the Cabinet before any decision is made.

“Regarding Nick Adams, we have not received any agreement from the US. We will wait and see. Of course, Wisma Putra will provide its views and recommendations to the Cabinet, and the Cabinet will make the final decision,” he said in response to a supplementary question from Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN–Kuala Krai).

International media had earlier reported that US President Donald Trump had nominated Nick Adams, an Australian-born American citizen and well-known conservative commentator, to serve as ambassador to Malaysia.

However, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil was reported as saying that the Cabinet had not yet received any memorandum from Wisma Putra on the proposed appointment. - July 21, 2025
