A LOCAL carpenter was found dead in his Proton X70 early Tuesday morning, parked atop a flyover connecting Kepong to Damansara, with forensic investigators discovering strangulation marks on his neck caused by a seatbelt

The sport utility vehicle (SUV) was first noticed stationary on the flyover’s U-turn ramp before authorities were alerted at around 1.30am, initially suspecting a fatal accident.

Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, confirmed that the first report received by the police's Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) indicated a possible road fatality due to the suspicious position of the vehicle.

“Initial information pointed to a fatal accident because the position of the vehicle suggested a crash,” he said in a statement.

However, upon further inspection, medical personnel from Selayang Hospital declared the victim dead at approximately 5.15am, prompting a full forensic investigation.

“Examination by the forensic team revealed ligature marks and signs of strangulation caused by a seatbelt around the victim’s neck,” Ahmad Sukarno stated.

The deceased was identified as a 46-year-old Malaysian man who worked as a carpenter.

The case has been classified as a sudden death (SDR), and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. - August 5, 2025
