No toll charges for motorcyclists, says LLM amid viral rumour
“The current toll structure remains unchanged, including for motorcycles,” LLM says - August 10, 2025

THE Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has firmly denied rumours that motorcyclists will be subject to toll charges beginning October, clarifying that there has been no change to existing vehicle toll categories.

In a statement issued today, the authority said the claim, which originated from a social media post yesterday, is false and misleading.

“The current toll structure remains unchanged, including for motorcycles,” LLM stated. “The post has the potential to cause unnecessary public concern, particularly among motorcyclists, while also tarnishing the image of the government, the Ministry of Works, LLM, and the relevant highway concessionaires.”

The viral Facebook post in question had, as of 10am, garnered over 2,000 comments and 568 shares.

LLM explained that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently testing an open toll payment system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

“If successful, this new system will be introduced in stages across PLUS-operated highways,” the statement added.

The ANPR-based system aims to improve traffic flow, enhance user convenience, and reduce congestion at toll plazas.

LLM urged highway users to disregard unverified claims and avoid spreading misinformation, stressing the importance of referring only to official announcements for accurate and up-to-date information. - August 10, 2025
