Kelantan water company owes RM61 million to TNB, says Deputy PM II
Overall arrears in the state totals RM229 million says Fadillah - August 11, 2025

AIR Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) owes approximately RM61 million to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in unpaid electricity bills as of 30 June this year, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who also serves as Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, revealed that utility records show 492,174 accounts in Kelantan have outstanding electricity bills, with total arrears amounting to RM229 million.

“Of this total, the highest arrears are from domestic users, comprising 411,780 accounts with outstanding bills amounting to RM114 million. This is followed by non-domestic users (commercial and industrial), with 80,196 accounts owing RM53 million.

Meanwhile, the remaining arrears are from AKSB, involving 198 accounts with a total outstanding amount of RM61 million.” he said in a written reply published on the official Parliament website.

He was responding to a question from Zahari Kechik (PN–Jeli), who asked for the number of TNB account holders in Kelantan with outstanding bills from last year to the present.

Fadillah added that overall arrears have declined compared to 31 December last year, with a reduction of RM4.33 million recorded.

He noted that several factors have contributed to the persistent issue, particularly the failure of property owners to transfer electricity accounts to tenants, which has led to rising arrears among domestic users. - August 11, 2025
