PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the upcoming Ipoh Sentral development as a landmark initiative that will transform the heart of the city while embodying Malaysia’s long-term aspirations for people-first, culturally rooted progress.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, Anwar said the RM6.25 billion project — a strategic collaboration between Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) — was a prime example of how large-scale private sector initiatives can be guided by Madani values.

“We no longer want towering structures that are devoid of soul or cultural identity. Every development must carry the spirit of humanity and uphold the principles of compassion, respect, sustainability and national dignity,” he said in a Facebook post later that evening.

To that end, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of synergy between developers, city authorities and ministries, including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Education, to ensure that the urban renewal is holistic and inclusive.

He expressed hope that Ipoh Sentral would spark new economic opportunities, instil civic confidence, and strengthen Ipoh’s identity as a vibrant, inclusive and competitive city.

The project is aligned with the Perak Smart Urban Green Transport Agenda 2030 and is intended to position Ipoh as a modern, well-connected transport hub that balances development with heritage conservation and community ties.

Meanwhile, Anwar also highlighted Malaysia’s close ties with ASEAN neighbours, noting that regional trust and cooperation are creating vast opportunities, particularly in agriculture and the dairy sector.

Speaking during the launch of the *Karnival Usahawan Tenusu Madani* in Pondok Tanjung, Perak, he credited the sector’s growth to private sector readiness, the resilience of local entrepreneurs, and the integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), which have enhanced productivity and innovation in modern farming.

“Malaysia is a blessed country, not only rich in resources but also enjoying strong regional relationships, especially with ASEAN partners,” he said.

Under the Madani Economy framework, Anwar said the government, alongside the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and private sector players, will continue to expand regional economic opportunities, create employment, and ensure that the benefits of development reach the people.

“As an immediate commitment, I’m announcing an allocation of RM1 million for urgent infrastructure works in the Larut, Matang and Selama districts,” he said.

The Prime Minister had earlier officiated the *Karnival Usahawan Tenusu Madani: Driving the Modern Agricultural Revolution, Powering the People’s Economy* at the Farm Fresh Dairy Complex in Larut, Perak. - August 17, 2025
