IGP outlines three strategic pillars to drive excellence in police

INSPECTOR-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has outlined three core focus areas to steer the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) towards excellence.

Speaking during the IGP’s Monthly Assembly for August, held at the Theatrette Hall, Menara 1, Bukit Aman Police Headquarters this morning, the IGP stressed that PDRM’s success lies not merely in assets and resources, but in collective resolve, unity, and the shared commitment of all within the force.

“Our focus will centre on AI-driven policing transformation, the empowerment and strengthening of integrity, as well as bolstering efforts towards the wellbeing of both the public and the force,” he said.

The event was hosted by the Special Branch, with its Director, CP Datuk Ibrahim Darus, present as Chair of the Organising Committee, alongside other PDRM Directors.

In his address, Mohd Khalid expressed concern over fatal bullying incidents and emphasised the need for a proactive, collective approach to prevention, particularly among students.

“Efforts to prevent such acts must be strengthened to ensure our young do not fall into behaviour that violates the law and basic human values,” he said.

The IGP also underscored the critical role of intelligence in preserving national security and public order. He noted that the credibility of the Special Branch is not only recognised nationally but also commands respect internationally.

Among key successes highlighted was the recent operation dismantling the activities of the Bangladesh-based militant group in Johor and Selangor.

The Special Branch also works closely with other enforcement agencies to combat economic sabotage, migrant smuggling, and document forgery.

During the event, Mohd Khalid presented the IGP’s Certificate of Appreciation to 44 police and civilian officers for outstanding service.

Special recognition was also awarded to two representatives from the Marine Police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency involved in a rescue operation off the coast of Sungai Pulai, Johor Bahru, on 10 July.

The gathering concluded with the symbolic handing over of the national flag to convoy participants from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Motorcycle Patrol Unit, and Patrol Car Unit.

The flag-off ceremony marked the launch of the PDRM-level Jalur Gemilang Campaign. - August 28, 2025
